2022
Luxembourg, Luxembourg
A year ago (2021), during summer, I was thinking I would love to paint on these elephant sculptures I would see a bit everywhere in Luxembourg city (where I grew up).
In August, I discovered there was a contest to be part of these artists painting on them. I participated, and it worked!
I was very happy to paint, based on the « promotion of Luxembourg » theme, the atmosphere, the colors and symbols of Luxembourg.
The river, the skatepark, a memory of a beautiful Niki de Saint Phalle Nana sculpture in the city center, Kirchberg towers, @mudamlux , the Gëlle Fra (the golden woman), the lion, parks, flowers, bikes and bridges, nature, the new tram, and always a bit of love, birds, clouds and stars.
It was a first time for me to paint on such a strange surface, it was a beautiful and funny challenge.
Incredible people are currently replicating the design (by hand!) on small elephants. They will be for sale at some point.
Why elephants you might ask?
Because the organisation behind is called Elephant Parade. They raise awareness and funds for elephants through the world’s largest elephant art exhibitions. 20% of Elephant Parade net profits are donated to elephant welfare and conservation projects.
A big thank you to Elephant Parade and to Ministry of Economy of Luxembourg for organizing this contest and offering me the opportunity to explore new fields, to grow, and giving a place to art expression.
Luxie, along with other elephants will be travelling throughout the world! It is starting this summer in the Netherlands.
